Update
The Supreme Court has issued several education-related rulings this week. In the case Forest Grove School District v. T.A., the court ruled that federal law authorizes reimbursements for private school tuition, even when a child has never received special education services from a public school (For more information, click here). In the case Safford Unified School District v. Redding, the court ruled that public school officials violated the Fourth Amendment rights of a 13-year-old girl when they strip-searched her in search of prescription strength ibuprofen. The ruling on strip-searches of students does not prohibit strip-searches, but clarifies when such searches are permissible (For more information, click here).
The Obama administration announced this week that it plans to simplify the federal college aid form in order to make it more user-friendly and make higher education accessible to be more students. (For more information, click here).
