"Lawmakers to launch bipartisan effort to rewrite No Child Left Behind" 

Democratic and Republican leaders of the House Education and Labor Committee announced their plans for a bipartisan effort to reform the nation’s primary K-12 federal education law, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) – currently known as No Child Left Behind.

The committee’s first hearing will be held on February 24 at 10:00 am, focused on a bill to establish a new competitive grant program to expand/replicate successful charter schools.  Additionally, Secretary Arne Duncan will appear before the House Budget Committee regarding the FY2011 education budget on Thursday, February 25 at 10:00 am.
