The U.S. Department of Education released the Administration's Elementary and Secondary Education Act "blue print" this past weekend. Secretary Duncan is scheduled to discuss the document with key leaders on Capitol Hill next Wednesday when he testifies before the House Education and Labor Committee and Senate Health, Education and Labor Committee in back-to-back sessions.

Expanding Advanced Placement (AP) Access: A Guide to Increasing AP Participation and Success as a Means for Improving College Readiness. Published by the Broad Foundation, this guide is designed to help superintendents, charter school leaders, and their staffs establish expanded Advanced Placement (AP) programs that can serve many more students, particularly low-income and minority youth. The guide describes a step-by-step process for adopting, implementing and evaluating AP programs. It draws on the experiences of 10 urban school districts, including finalists for The Broad Prize for Urban Education, as well as a number of non-profit organizations, and includes practical examples that may be useful as district and charter school leaders expand AP access.
