Updates
The Senate Commerce Committee yesterday approved legislation to reauthorize the America COMPETES Act. The bill does not include the broad education components approved as part of the original bill (these elements will likely be addressed as part of the updated ESEA), but the measure does include notable provisions regarding improving coordination of STEM initiatives across the Federal government. The College Board Advocacy & Policy Center today released two reports regarding college completion. The first of the two reports delineates state statistics related to a variety of factors in K-12 and higher education, and offers recommendations to improve education. The second makes specific suggestions for state policy makers on how to focus on each of the goals to attain a 55 percent college completion rate by 2025.
