An Engine to Change Policy and Practice

EducationCounsel is a mission-based education consulting firm that combines experience in policy, strategy, law, and advocacy to drive significant improvements in the U.S. education system. We work at the local, state, and national levels to develop and put into motion policy initiatives that close achievement gaps and lead to improved education outcomes from pre-K through college.

In collaboration with former U. S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley, EducationCounsel was established by Arthur L. Coleman and Scott R. Palmer.  The team consists of  some of the most respected names in education policy, law, and practice—a diverse and bipartisan group  with a shared commitment to strengthen education systems, close achievement gaps, and expand access to educational opportunities.

EducationCounsel’s deep institutional knowledge and relationships with major stakeholders and policymakers at all levels help bring together the threads of policy, program design, and implementation for our clients, many of whom are leading nonprofits, foundations, state education agencies, school districts, and academic institutions. We focus on the broad education landscape to identify strands of action taking place among multiple states and organizations and bring them together to create improvements across the full spectrum of education systems, from pre-K through higher education.

Our holistic complement of services focused on education policy, strategy, law, and advocacy provide clients with the experience and resources required to effect change across the entire education sector.

EducationCounsel’s affiliation with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, a national law firm with more than 400 attorneys, affords our clients expert legal services in more than 40 practice areas that extend beyond education policy, including corporate, financial, procurement, employment, and intellectual property, to name a few, as well as comprehensive government relations and public strategy services.
