U.S. Secretary of Education Duncan, former Education Secretary Richard W. Riley to Discuss Nation's Schools at Fifth Annual Teaching and Learning Summit

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and one of his predecessors, former Secretary Richard W. Riley, will discuss the past, present and future of the nation’s schools at the fifth annual Celebration of Teaching & Learning at the Hilton New York in New York City on Friday, March 5. The Celebration of Teaching & Learning 2010 is a professional development conference that brings together more than 8,500 educators with global experts, activists, academics and artists to share their experiences in and outside of the classroom.
Secretary Duncan and the former Secretary Richard W. Riley, Education Secretary during the Clinton Administration, will discuss the challenges and accomplishments of establishing and sustaining a concerted effort to reform and enhance America’s public schools. The conversation will be moderated by Paula A. Kerger, president and CEO of the Public Broadcasting System.
The Celebration is hosted by WNET.ORG, the premier public media provider of the New York City metropolitan area and parent company of public television stations THIRTEEN & WLIW21. This year’s theme focuses on creativity and will feature sessions on English Language Arts, Instructional Technology, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, Social Studies and Whole School Issues.
